- Stat modifiers are not added to weapon damage rolls
- CON modifier is only added to hit points for level 1
- A 0th level character that becomes level 1 replaces their hit points entirely
- Stat modifiers are based on 3rd edition D&D and onward
- Stat scores are not capped at 18, but the modifiers don't increase beyond +4
- Spell slots don't exist. You can continue to cast a spell you know for as long as you successfully roll to cast it (DC 10 + Tier)
- There is no combat grid in Shadowdark
- A round is a round, be it crawling or combat. Effects with a duration of rounds interchange seamlessly
- Wizards can learn spells from spell scrolls of any spell tier
- Wizards can cast any spell that they know
- Wizards don't need a spellbook
- Status effects & conditions are not defined. It's the game master's prerogative and duty to make fair rulings
- Drinking a potion or using an item is part of your multitasking. It does not take your action
- You can cast another non-focus spell while you are focusing. Rolling a focus check does not take your action
- You don't lose the ability to cast a focus spell if you fail the subsequent focus checks (unless you critically fail)
- You make a new focus check every time you take damage
- There are no saving throws, unless the spell or ability explicitly calls for a stat check to resist with
- There are no attacks of opportunity
- Ranged weapons don't have a minimum attack range
- Torches burn for 1 hour of real life time *
