Day 1 - night spent at edge of walls where forest is being cleared.
Day 2 - find a cave to camp. There is a small stone wall/windbreak. It was a windy night.
Day 3 - it gets warm, humid and hilly – unpleasant travel. Come upon a town set in an island in the swamp. Cross bridge into town and investigate a burned out building on the north end of town. Call out for Seru. Look for thatched roof house at south end of town. Seru tells us. Started out as trees off in the distance about a year ago. Got closer over time, now huts. Fires happen mostly on sunny days, rarely on cloudy days or night. Fires always start burning from northeastern side. Last fire was week and a half ago, before that a week ago. Ditto for trees. Tells us places to talk with people at: Drunken Lizard –tavern, Old Yonwin’s – fish & meat market, Wennels –trading post.
At Wennel’s – one of the best-maintained. Ealhild tells us about a lizard-lady. Brid –tells us about Zisrin, a priestess of the lizard-folk. Zisrin tries to help hunters in lizard-fold etiquette. Get out to her boat via renting one from the Drunken Lizard.
Riccola (rich old lady) on stretcher coming out of burned-out building. Says she’s going to the mudded manse. A sanitarium. Mudded manse is outside village to the west, about 3 miles. Caters to rich people. Mud has healing properties –owned by Vicisi Liei. Riccola came here to be important. Ealhild and Riccola don’t get along.
At Old Yonwin’s – fairly large building, smells a lot like swamp & fishy. Find a Halfling with a beard on a crutch.
Drunken Lizard – a dragon-born barkeep, Otacaric. He tries to steal a pouch from Ral. We get rooms. In the basement we find a desk that has a basket with tablecloth, silverware. Ral and Straff investigate a pathway. Nothing of interest. Otacaric will give us his personal canoe. As we bed down, we hear chanting in the distance, from the southwest.
Day 4 – breakfast at the Drunken Lizard. Take the canoe to Zisrin’s island. There’s a nice yurt, smells more of incense than swamp. Zisrin says there are strange things in the swamp. There are some lizard-folk who seek trouble. Red Jaw (slash of paint on right side of jaw) and Jagged Claw clans don’t get along. Thornhill folk can’t tell them apart. Red Jaw are most open-minded. Say Jagged Claw have their own, evil temple. Zisrin will send us a message with a hunter. God of Lizard-Folk is Simwanya. God of strength and pride.
Notice a bright spot of light on a distant hill as Seru’s house goes up in flames. Ral creates water to put out flames.
We make our way through the swamp towards the hill. Come across 2 groups of lizard people who are arguing. Pliaj throws a ball bearing at them. They start fighting. We fight alongside the Red jaws. The Jagged Claws are defeated. We decide to talk with the Red Jaw over fish and python.
