We discover a tortoise makes a “ka-PLANG” noise when a short sword is deflected off it.

The Red Jaws in the water continue to slice up the Jagged Claw on the West side of the town. The villagers (meat shield) attempt to charge the lizard men.

Ral gets a bit smacked by a lizard man on the bridge, and then emanates lightning in a retributive strike a couple of times to leave a smoldering pile of cinders.

Pliaj disarmed the big baddy of his stunning club.

The lizards in the East are resoundlingly defeated by the town defenders and the Red Jaws. A great cheer rises from across the town, inspiring the townsfolk defending the bridge.

Straff zaps the High Priest and drops him. The townsfolk dispatch the unconscious lizard man. The last lizard is killed.

Ral spares the dying of 3 of the Red Jaws, as well as heals many.

We find that the great club says “Lizard Fist” in draconic on it. The high priest has a strange holy symbol on him, and 10 GP. Parts from the sun ray machine.

Pliaj and Straff persuade Elfgar and Kiz to talk and figure out how to maintain peace and cooperation. Elfgar offers space in town for Kiz’s wounded to recuperate.

Serru comes up to us, offers us a meager amount of gold. We decline and join a bit in getting the town back on its feet, heal the wounded, etc.

Yonwin was just chillin’ and catching/smoking fish during the battle. Pliaj gets some fish from him. He, Ral, Kiz and Elfgar get together to talk. Pliaj shows Kiz the symbol from the High Priest. It is the symbol of Shrick, the renounced god of domination. Kiz promises to accept Jagged Claws who recant their ways. Kiz suggests that if we go back to the temple, it would be good, but he can’t help us. Pliaj decides to embed with the Red Jaws and broker peace. Also learns draconic.

The party decides to head back out to the Ziggurats. We cross the bridge and enter the complex via the bridge. We climb up the southern ziggurat. There are two black orbs at the summit in brass cradles. They appear scorched. In between them is a brass gong. We search the compound for hours for an entrance. At long last we see some gold plaques atop the buildings hiding latches. We find the entrances. In the ziggurats, we find mainly living quarters with kitchens. There are two rooms of interest:

Mural room: myths, directions for working orbs on top. There is a clear representation of the full moon above the orbs.

Chieftain’s Room: big bed. Find a trident. A couple of potions; Greater Magic Fang & Shield of Faith. A scroll of doom and a scroll of cause fear. A small gold statue of some kind of cross between a lizard person and a demon, about 2 ft high.

Treasure Room: 200 GP in coins. Ziggurat miniature in purple crystal. Gold band with 3 violet stones and a dwarven inscription on the bottom “surviving the mountain”. A ceremonial helm with crest of red horse hair, also a phrase in dwarven inscribed around the helm “power of dirt”. 3 potions of Level 1 Cure Wounds. A map of a hidden temple in a mountain range.

We push the orbs down and they shatter. We retrieve a couple of shards. We melt down the golden statue. After this we decide we’ve done enough to render the complex harmless. Pliaj will work with the Red Jaw to patrol the area. We declare our mission a success and return to Westmarch.
