Adventurers:

Aryn – Elf, Wizard

Yivena.  – elf, thief

Calgor – human, priest

Zofi – Wizard

Team took a job to investigate a putrid water supply in a centaur village, tracked it to a mausoleum and met an undead cursed being who has been amassing power which is now fouling the water supply. Aryn cut a deal with this being while they go looking for the items, he needs to run the ritual to free himself from this prison.

A jaundiced humanoid walks into the Inn with nasty hair, we know this is a Ramogi (not human), a magically warped human and this one is some kind of portal master. He bids us to follow him. Dolumus King Stone works for Assyrian Vos, the undead being. He leads us into the woods close to the area of lifeless clearing, he turns and says, “be prepared, if you haven’t walked the shadow roads it can be disconcerting.” Shadow roads follow lay lines and mages can use them to travel distances quickly. Along the way he tells us this is the first artifact that his boss needs, it is an orb. We walk out of the shadow road into a labyrinth, it is dark and breezy and misty, we can see a sliver of moon in the sky.

  1. Search a room – this is a dead end, iron ladder in the south wall leading up to a trap door in the ceiling. There is a warm glow coming from the other side. Opens into a 15-foot square room that has a large stone sarcophagus with the lid slightly ajar and the glow is coming from inside it. Yivenna sticks her hand in the jar and finds an electrum key set with pink coral. Yivenna is overcome with freight and is terrified of whatever it is in the room. We hear a squealchy sound and it crawls out of the sarcophagus.
  2. We find the right path (Ace). We pass a faded fresco of starving captives next to a low platform. Zofi stands on the platform and we all experience a dizziness, and we are looking at a different fresco in the maze.
  3. Yivenna fails to scout ahead. Find another fresco with a platform, it is some other scene of misery and lost adventurers.
  4. Right path and we move on

  6. 10 of hearts – we found ourselves back at the beginning.
  7. 10 of diamonds – two large midnight black scorpions are patrolling.

    2. Aryn launches magic missile
    3. Yivenna attacks with her bow and misses
    4. They close in
    5. Zofi uses acid arrow (and two luck tokens) and hits
    6. Calgor uses magic sword and cleaves it straight through the head killing it (crit)
    7. Aryn – lays burning hands on the other and torches it
    8. Yivenna shots another arrow and misses
    9. Scorpion attacks Calgor with claw and stinger
    10. Acid arrow kills it from Zofi
    11. Yivenna finds a stone shelf that holds a small wooden box that contains a silver key set with onyx.
  8. Find another creepy fresco and we keep going.
  9. Find a dead end (3 of diamonds), found the local entrance to the maze but it is magically closed off.
  10. Six of clubs – another monster card
  11. Yivenna finds a trap – a trip wire! She successfully disarms the trip wire; it was connected to some crossbows.
  12. Random encounter – a breeze kicks up and starts to flicker the torch and the shadows start to dance strangely and detach.
    1. Yivenna hits one with a flaming arrow
    2. Shadow attacks Calgor and misses, another goes after Yivenna and misses, and the final goes after Zofi and misses.
