Party: Scorch – Kobold Warlock (Nate) Rhimeren (Rhi)– Human Fighter (Blake) Zofelliar (Zofe) – Human Wizard (Abel)

Party has been hired by a Dwarven family of merchants to escort them and their cargo to the city of Redstone. The dwarven family consists of: Herradi, the patriarch of the family and not a nice individual Warri, matriarch Mundri, 6yo Khakal, 11yo Herv, 20yo son who sees himself as the family protector. He has a sword and shield. Geir, 30yo with dirty clothes and a tool belt, he is Mr. Fixit Auccus, 40 yo female, eldest daughter and very stuckup

Goods are being carried in a wooden wagon with a tarp over the top and pulled by a team of horses. The wagon has panels that can be drop down to provide protection for the family in case of an attack on the road. Herradi is very closed mouth about the contents of the wagon. From glimpses it appears to be full of weapons, armor, and various trinkets that you expect were not come upon legally.

The group sets off towards Redstone, after a few hours on the trail they enter a forested area with thick trees on both sides of the road. As they continue a thick unnatural mist starts to cover the road and surrounding area, the party has a very uneasy feeling. A black arrow comes out of the tree line and hits the wagon, and the party sees several shadows moving through the mist.

Combat Begins • Zofe casts mage armor and fails, she is now glowing purple and starts screaming at the top of her lungs speaking in tongues. She dives under the wagon with the family. • Large goblin with a big belt emerges from the mist, strongest goblin we have ever seen. (Chief Rumble) • Scorch fires crossbow at Chief Rumble and hits • Zofe fires magic missile at Chief Rumble and feels a surge of energy from the environment which causes a second magic missile to fire. • Rhi shoots bow at Chief • Chief attacks Herradi wrestling a horse on top of him, both roll underneath the horse. • Zofi attacks nearest goblin with magic missile, there is another surge of energy and charm person is cast as well. Both are successful and the goblin runs away. • Herv attacks a goblin and misses, goblin wrestles him to the ground. • Friendly fire kills another goblin and remaining break into the back of the wagon • Scorch lets out a Draconic cry and launches himself at the Chief and misses. • Zofe fires magic missile at nearest goblin and feels another surge with no ill effect.

• Chief drinks a potion while his bodyguard takes position around him, and the others pull the children out from under the wagon. • Zofe has another surge and fires to magic missiles at goblins taking the kids. • Geir starts hammering a goblin trying to save kids and Herv pins his goblin. • Boss goblin runs off into the woods. • Rhi fires bow at another goblin and hits. • Scorch attacks the bodyguard • Zofe casts sleep and takes out four goblins, there is a surge and within the sleep cube there is an explosion killing the four goblins and dropping Zofe to 0 hit points. • Khakal is slung over the shoulder of a goblin, and it takes off towards the woods. • Goblin bodyguard attacks Scorch and drops him to 0 hit points, bodyguard runs off • Herv takes damage from his goblin and loses upper hand in the grapple. Goblin runs away. • Herv stabilizes Scorch. • Rhi, Herradi, and Herv all fail to stabilize Zofe, fortunately Geir can.

The party sets up camp for the night for a long rest. In total, five goblins were killed and one of the children was kidnapped. The party took no loses despite the two near misses. In the morning, Herradi is not happy about the loss of his child and demands that the party set out to retrieve her. Prior to setting out the group searches the goblin corpses and finds: • Silver Griffin with the initials LS carved in it • Masterwork Icon of Chaos with specks of dried blood • Masterwork carved tusk with unknown unique feature

The party of heroes sets out to find the 11yo and Herv joins them. They make their way uphill in rocky terrain, the trail is easy to follow. As they approach the top of a hill, they find a hole/cave with several goblins out front including Chief Rumble. Just inside the cave they can see the girl being held prisoner. Chief Rumble parlays with the group, he states this is their new home but there is a monster, rock with tentacles, that is giving them trouble. If our heroes can eliminate the rock with tentacles, he will give them the girl.

The party agrees and they enter the cave, they follow the pathway down and enter a large chamber that has a pit in the far side of the room. If you look down the pit you find a pool of water on a lower level. From the roof their hangs stalactites that are dripping water. On further inspection one of the stalactites looks funny. It appears to be a dead Roper, Rhi climbs up the ceiling and can knock the Roper down for further inspection. The Roper appears to have been dead for a long time and is covered with small bite marks. There are a significant number of bats in the chamber which possibly killed it.

The party takes the Roper back out to Chief Rumble and says they have finished the task. There is some hasty talking between the Chief and one of his tribe. Chief says, “sorry, Tentacle of Rock, my common not so good. Apologize for confusion.’ He proceeds to kill the goblin who gave the wrong information.

The party re-enters the cave, down to the first cavern and takes the pathway which is only way out of cavern besides the exit. They enter a small room that has a couple small cots and a cold campfire. On one of the cots is a goblin corpse, on another is a wooden box. Inside the wooden box is a chunk of ore and a rod of volcanic glass. Rhi recognizes the ore as Flarestone which makes the rod a FlareRod which gives off light without producing heat. As they inspect these items the goblin corps begins to raise and gives off a glow, body is fused with Flarestone. The reanimated corps attacks Scorch and drops him to 0 hit points. Rhi shoots it with an arrow and Zofe attacks with magic missile finishing it off. Scorch is laid on to one of the cots for a long rest.

The party clears the debris blocking the only other tunnel and uncover rock steps leading down to another level that contains two rock ledges and a bridge that spans the gap in between. The wooden bridge appears sturdy enough and they safely cross to the other side. As they enter the chamber of the far side of the bridge, they smell gas, and the lantern starts to pop. They quickly extinguish the lantern and activate the Flare Rod. The pathway opens into a large room that is below the first room. In the far corner you see the pool of water with a ladder leading into it and in the roof the ceiling the opening to the space above. In addition, there are two pillars with an arch in between and small room off to the side. There are scorch marks everywhere and approximately a dozen dead goblins strewn about the room with rocky “things” protruding from them. Herv thinks he smells wine and enters the small room; rest of the group follows.

Inside they find several vats for making wine and a tray with a bunch of slimy mushrooms. Herv exclaims that they must be making mushroom wine and is very excited about this. He wants to take the vats with them. For now, they get him to agree with only taking one jug of wine and Zofe takes a sample of the wine in a flask. They head back to the corpse room. Herv picks up a couple of the pieces of ore from the ground and wonders out lot if they will spark if you hit them together. As they still smell gas Rhi and Zofe yell “NO!!” and stop him from, he says, “oh well” and tosses the rock over his shoulder, it lands on a goblin. After their initial relief that an explosion was avoided, they notice that the corpses are starting to re-animate. They launch an initial attack the zombie goblins respond taking out Zofe. Rhi fires another arrow which misses and sparks of the wall causing an explosion in the chamber. Fortunately, Rhi and Herv can jump out of the way and the explosion takes out the zombie goblins. Herv and Rhi grab Zofe and retreat to the room with the bridge. Herv then proceeds to grab Scorch and bring him to the bridge room where they all settle in for a long rest.
